13 Ways to Repurpose Your Content

Creating a great piece of content takes times, energy and focus.

Making sure you write it in a way that it can be repurposed will not only allow you to cut down on the amount of content you need to produce, but it can also be a great way to drive traffic to your website.  

In this article we’ll show you 13 ways to get more mileage out of just one article.

1. Create a blog post from Video/Audio/Powerpoint

High-quality content can spinoff more high-quality content, and the audience can benefit from both.

If you have a Video, Audio or Powerpoint presentation, you can turn this information into a blog post and provide it to your audience in a different way.

Some people really prefer reading information and it’s also a great boost for your SEO.

2. Create a downloadable PDF from blog post 

Some people like to download posts for reference. Take your post and convert it into a white paper, checklist, infographic or some other type of future reference your audience can use.

Also consider turning it into an email opt-in form on your site. This can help increase future engagement and traffic.

3. Create emails or auto responders out of blog content

Use your best posts in an email sequence, autoresponder or engagement builder.

4. Create a Powerpoint presentation from Post/Video/Audio

Slideshows are another form of content people really love. Interesting statistics, meaningful quotes, and actionable advice can make for effective slides, and the resulting presentation can offer an easy-to-read recap of your original content.

Don’t waste slides. You’re not giving a speech. You’re using your slideshow as an online marketing tool. Each slide should have one key point from your post.

These points should be the headers used in your post to define the different sections.

Videos are popular online. But you don’t have to create videographics to find success with video.

You can start simple by taking your recent Powerpoint presentation, adding a voiceover and turning them into video.

6. Create a Webinar from your Post/Video/Audio/Powerpoint

The next step in audio-video content is a webinar, which allows you to both present on a topic and engage your audience in conversation.

Your existing content can be a great jumping-off point for a webinar, or you can use a series of blogs as research for your final presentation.

8. Create an Infographic from Post/Video/Audio/Powerpoint

A step beyond the slidedeck is the infographic, a complete summary of the content of your post in a visual outline.

If you have a lot of data in your story, infographics are a super way to relate data or merely to break up an article into just the major talking points.

9. Create a Videographic from your Post/Infographic

Online video continues to grow in popularity with web users and is becoming a preferred channel for many.

Videographics allow you to reach this audience by creating animations that take the content from your blog post (or infographic) and turn it into an animated video .

Once you convert your blog post to a videographic, just upload to YouTube and share.

10. Create a Podcast from your Post/Webinar/Video

Some of your audience prefers content that they can listen to. They want to listen to it at work, at the gym, while driving or even at home while doing some chores.

Podcasts are great to listen to in the background while you’re doing something else and what’s great for content producers is that podcasts contain much of the same content as blog posts.

In this sense, podcasts and videos could be one of the most important repurposing methods because they open up a whole new way to connect with others.

11. Find Q&A Sites like Quora or Yahoo Answers and turn relevant discussions into Post/Video/Audio

The social answers site makes it easy to repurpose content either in replies to questions or as posts to other Q&A sites and Quora’s user blogs. These are unique outlets for your content.

Maybe you wrote a great blog post on maximizing the lifespan of an industrial widget through proper maintenance.

Search question and answer sites for people seeking out that information and give it to them. 

You’ll also get traffic from those wanting a thorough answer, plus you’re establishing yourself as a leader and engaging with community members.

This can also work in reverse—your answers on Quora and other Q&A sites can become the seeds for blog posts on your site.

12. Share a link or republish your blog posts on other sites

Practice the art of reposting your blog on other social media sites. A great place to try this could be Medium. Medium can provide you with a broader audience than your blog may be currently receiving.

It might seem counterintuitive to share the same content to the same audience, but we have found it to be effective for hitting people in different time zones, reaching new followers, and testing variations of headlines.

13. Create an ebook from several of your Posts (and/or guest posts)

Expanding your existing content into an ebook seems like a logical step in the content process, and it’s amazing how many high-quality ebooks began as blog posts.

If you decide to create an ebook based on your blog posts, take the time to supplement it with some additional information or research.

Add photos. Make the ebook something that is worth the additional investment; not only of your time, but for your audiences.

The length can vary based on what you want to cover and how in-depth you want to go.
