Publishing takes less than 5 minutes and your book will show up on Amazon within 24 hours!
Publishing is pretty standard, you upload your pdf file and cover art then fill out a short form with things like your book title and ISBN number (if you have one) and Amazon takes care of the rest!
You can preview what it will look like using their online previewer or download their kindle previewer.

Publish your book to Kindle is easily with this step by step tool.
You set the pricing and choose between 35% royalty or 70% royalty.
Books between $2.99 and $9.99 are only eligible for the 70% royalty. My $.99 ebook was a mandatory 35% for example.
You set the pricing, but your max royalty will come from books in the $2.99-$9.99 range.
NOTE: There is a $.15MB fee for (delivery) downloads passed on to authors. Picture books get hammered here.
When you use KDP, you grant Amazon non-exclusive rights to distribute your book.
Take a look at the Grant of Rights section of the terms of service and make sure you are ok with everything there (and the rest of the TOS for that matter).
Thousands of people use KDP and I haven’t heard of any complaints of overbearing TOS… but read it anyway.
